The calligrapher writes a piece — for them alone
A working professional calligrapher listens to your words and selects a phrase of one to five characters, then puts brush to paper. The same piece is never written again.

Crafted into a premium T-shirt (with an optional hanging scroll)
The finished piece is printed onto a premium cotton T-shirt and delivered in a Sumika gift box. You can also add the same piece as a traditional washi-paper hanging scroll (kakejiku). Direct shipping to the recipient is available; noshi wrapping and message cards are free.

Q.Who is this gift meant for?
Weddings, retirements, milestone birthdays (60th / 70th / 80th), graduations and new beginnings, or heartfelt thank-yous — Sumika is designed as a gift for meaningful people across a wide age range.
Q.How far in advance should I order?
T-shirt gifts take about 3 weeks; adding the hanging scroll extends it to about 5 weeks. For dated occasions such as weddings, we recommend ordering 1–2 months in advance.
Q.Can you ship directly to the recipient?
Yes. We ship directly to any address, with noshi wrapping and the calligrapher's letter enclosed. International shipping is available on DDP (delivered duty paid) terms.
Q.Who is the calligrapher?
A working professional calligrapher. Given the nature of the work, we do not publish the individual calligrapher's profile.
Q.How is the piece chosen?
The calligrapher reads your message and chooses a piece of one to five characters best suited to the recipient. If you have a specific word in mind, please let us know. The same piece is never produced again.
Q.Are the T-shirt and hanging scroll the same piece?
Yes. The calligrapher writes the piece once, and it is crafted into both formats. The recipient experiences both — the piece they wear, and the piece they hang.
Q.What if the recipient doesn't like it?
We confirm the direction carefully in the hearing phase before production begins. Refunds after production starts are not possible, but we welcome revision consultations.
